Terri Lynn Phelps

June 15, 1953 – August 15, 2026

Terri Lynn (Matthews) Phelps of Waldorf, Maryland, passed away on August 15, 2026, at the age of 73. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories, a family who loved her dearly, and, if her online shopping habits are any indication, probably several packages still making their way to her house.

Terri was preceded in death by her parents, Audrey Adams Matthews, and Sidney Matthews.

She is survived by her daughter, Tracy Loveless (Robert Johnson); son, Patrick Phelps, Jr.; grandson, Matthew Loveless; and brother, Brent Matthews (Deborah). Her family was her greatest joy, although she might have argued that pink flamingos deserved an honorable mention.

Terri had a special talent for making life colorful—preferably pink. She loved pink in virtually every form and had a particular fondness for pink flamingos. She was also a devoted Beatles fan and an enthusiastic online shopper with a remarkable talent for finding things she simply couldn't resist.

Professionally, Terri was a Tour Director at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, a job she truly loved. She took great pride in giving tours, sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with visitors, and meeting many celebrities along the way.

After retiring, Terri enjoyed more time doing the things she loved—family, music, shopping, and, of course, her impressive collection of pink flamingos.

Terri was known for her playful sense of humor, larger-than-life personality, and ability to make ordinary things more fun. She will be remembered for her laughter, generous spirit, love of family, and unwavering commitment to the color pink. She was one of a kind—and she probably would have told you that herself.

VISITATION

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 29, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. at Huntt Funeral Home in Waldorf, MD.

In true Terri fashion, guests are encouraged to wear pink in her honor. The more pink, the better—because Terri would have expected nothing less.

In lieu of flowers, Terri would likely prefer something pink. And if it happens to arrive in a cardboard box from an online retailer, even better.
