On January 5, 2026, at the age of 97, Virginia Fields Bradley of Hollywood, MD, went home to be with her Savior and Lord, where she will live forever in His presence because of God’s grace to her [Ephesians 2:8-10].
Virginia Finch was born June 24, 1928, in Jacksonville, FL, to George and Hattie Finch. She had 5 other siblings, Mary Elizabeth, Edith Marie, Betty Ruth, George William, and Jack Stuart, all of whom have preceded her in death. When she was 4 years old, they lived in San Francisco while her father worked on the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge. By age 6, they had moved back to the East Coast to Washington, D.C. By the time she was a teen, they had purchased a large parcel of land in Prince George's County and lived there with the family until each married. They were married for 10 years.
Virginia accepted by faith the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at a young age and remained devoted to Him as He directed her life according to [Proverbs 3:5–6], 5Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will make straight your paths. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School Bible studies for both children and women for many years. She also served as a church secretary for Whitehall Baptist Church and Congress Heights Baptist Church, as well as assisting at Riva Trace Baptist Church and Merritt Island Baptist Church during different periods of her life. Most recently, she has been a member of Leonardtown Baptist Church since moving back to Maryland in 2021. She was a secretary at the Navy Yard and Naval Research Lab for 20 years before her retirement in 1988.
