James Rocheleau, youngest of 8 children, and lived a full and impactful life. Passionate
about Ice Hockey from a young age and working towards a professional hockey career, a
change of course led him to join the US Navy; to give 20+ years of his life to the United
States and the Vietnam War, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. On December 31, 1961, Wally married who we knew and loved as Sunny, and they started their adventure together.
A heart for kids and young adults, he coached his daughter’s baseball team, held very popular Friday and Saturday night dances to help keep teens from drinking and driving. Every holiday, every opportunity, he and Sunny opened their home to young Sailors.
He adored water fights and was known to bring the hose into the house on occasion. Throughout his many years, he was a mentor and a friend to
many, leaving positive marks on nearly everyone he met.
This season, Wally spent Christmas with the love of his life who had passed before him and they will be dancing together for their 64th Anniversary on New Year’s Eve as we begin 2026. Passing away on December 22, 2025, Wally went home to his wife Sunny, his grandson Trent, both his parents and his brothers who have been waiting for him.
Wally is survived, will be missed, and remembered with joy, by his sister Honey, his daughters Misty Wanner and Wendy Rocheleau, 4 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and so many of us lucky enough to call him friend.
