Wendell Lloyd Bryant unexpectedly took his last breath Friday March 27, 2020 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland following a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gloria Bryant; his son, Christopher Bryant; his daughter, Samantha Elliott, Son in Law, Darryl Elliott II; brother-in-law Tom Swinton; two grandchildren NorSean and Amiyah and two nephews Ian and Tommy Jr., and a host of family and many friends made over the years. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael and sister, Ellen.

The son of Viola Bryant, he was born and raised in Washington DC, but spent the majority of his adult life creating and raising his family in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

At the age of 18, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he was stationed on the Aircraft Carrier John F. Kennedy homeported in Norfolk, VA. While in the Navy he served 3 years, successfully completing 2 deployments and earning his GED. After his time in the military, he was honorably discharged from the US Navy and found a job working in Government Printing in Washington, DC. He worked there for 30 years, working his way up from pressmen to foreman where he served as a supervisor and ran the press shop during his shifts. Upon his retirement in 2013, he started working for an assemblage company that sent him to various stores to assemble and disassemble home improvement products and various other items for the home. He typically found himself working at Home Depot, doing what he enjoyed… working with his hands.

In his leisure time he was an avid reader. He enjoyed watching the news, discussing politics and other controversial topics and watching movies. Gifted with his hands, he could often be found doing home projects, working in the yard or working on his car. He recently found enjoyment in long distance bike riding and had even participated in group rides during the warm months of the spring and summer. A Memorial Service will be held on July 12, 2020 at 12:00pm. at the Huntt Funeral Home, Waldorf, Maryland

My grandfather (wendell bryant) was one of the nicest person I have ever met in my entire life. Every morning he would do sudoku and read the paper. I was devestated when I heard the news. I miss him so much. RIP pop pop.

Bryant was a really good guy. I met him at a Home Depot while he was assembling for us. He was always cheerful and I looked forward to chatting with him for a bit whenever he’d come in. He worked his butt off to get the job done every time. RIP Bryant.

Sorry for the Bryant family's loss of a talented and easy person to talk with. I met Wendell a couple times as he was friends with my grandson at Home Depot. When he helped build my grill my family bought me him and i talk most of the time about being printers him at GPO and me at USNA Print Shop. Both of us started out as pressman and both ended up as foremans and retired . He was such a pleasant gentleman to talk to and my grandson Brandon thought the world of him too. Our deepest condolences

I met Bryant when I worked at Home Depot in Lanham then I transferred to Bowie but Bryant was very friendly and nice to me. He always made sure to come to the desk and spoke to me. When I got transferred and saw me he said there you go, I was wondering what happened to you, are you ok, you good and then say a joke lol. He would always ask me that. He always had a smile on his face and was very friendly and polite. . Bryant will be truly missed. RIHP Wendell Bryant!

1st Sorry 4Your Lost. I Work @The Home Depot In Bowie. Every Wednesday I Would See Bryant ( that's the name I knew him by ). He Always Had A Smile On His Face. We Would Always Joke & Give Each Other A Hard Time ( just messing with each other ) @The Home Depot. He Would Call Me Regional Vice President, Cause That's What I Was Working 2Be. I Will Truly Miss His Smile & Sense Of Humor. He Was Not Just Another Worker. He Was My GoodFriend. I Will Truly Miss Him. But He's Home Now. Be Blessed My Friend. I'll CU Again.
