

Andy P. Pascua, 63, of Yakima passed away unexpectedly at Harborview Medical Center on Wednesday evening, November 5, 2014. He was born in Yakima, WA to Ambrocio and Helen (Estep) Pascua. Andy was educated in the Wapato School District and attended both Central Washington University and Eastern Washington University.
He was an avid reader and a champion for social justice, culturally competent services. Andy was a primary participant in the Supreme Court case against the Wards Cove packing company for employment discrimination. He was also a lifetime member of the Filipino-American Community of the Yakima Valley. In his more recent years, he was employed by the University of Washington as the Assistant Director for the GEAR UP program.
He is survived by his wife Carrie; his children Terry, Cyndi, Joi, and godson Gene. He also leaves behind his brother John, sister-in-law Cindy, nephew Jonathan, and god-sister Joanne. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, Joseph, Mariah, Mario, John, Kyley, Andy, Niko, and Kincaid; along with great granddaughter, Isabella and his in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents Ambrocio and Helen Pascua, and father-in-law Pak Huie.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 12th, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Wapato with
burial to follow at Reservation Community Memorial Park.
