

David was raised in Tukwila and Seattle and performed in the Northwest Intertribal Club in his youth. He graduated from Wapato High School in 1980. He then attended Haskell, studied drafting/engineering, SIPI and YVCC. David was currently employed with the Wapato Irrigation Project as a Water Master, a position he held from 1996 until his passing. He was also employed at the Yakama Nation Mt. Adams Furniture Factory when it was in operation.
David was a cancer survivor. He enjoyed his grandkids, running, basketball, traveling, fishing, hunting, dancing, singing, bingo, golfing, baseball, football and his horse Charger, which he had won. He was a firefighter and went to California to fight fires, and also helped with the disaster relief in Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina. He was member of the Washat religion and Shaker Church. He married his soul mate and best friend/companion, Debra Yallup Dogsleep October 7, 1992 in Yakima, WA.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Isabell Johnly Jamison, father David Dogsleep Sr., father-in-law Wilferd Yallup, brother-in-law Audie “Otter” Yallup Sr., brothers Carl Thompson, Earl Thompson, and Harold Desjarlais.
David is survived by his wife/best friend Debra Yallup Dogsleep (Webby), and daughter Shannon Yallup and five grandkids: Geordell, Ganell, Marvell, Alexander (Handsome) and Shandraya, as well as daughter Deidra Dogsleep and her son.
Dressing services will be at 10 am today, Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the Wapato Longhouse with overnight services to follow. At 7 am Friday, July 15, David will be transported for burial at the Celilo Cemetery in Celilo, Oregon. Arrangements are entrusted to Merritt Funeral Home.
