Julia Judy Jo Smith

Judy was born November 18, 1930 in Midvale, ID to Malvern H and Bessie M Smithwick. Judy graduated from Wapato High School with the class of 1948. She attended the University of Washington where she married Dean C Smith. After Dean graduated from law school, they moved to Yakima where Dean began his practice with is father in Wapato.

In 1956 they were blessed with twins. Tremaine (Trim) and Jeanine.The family moved to Spokane in 1969 where Dean was appointed as US Attorney for Eastern Washington by President Richard Nixon.Judy became a gracious host to many dignitaries which led her to her next career as being a House Mother (Director) for Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at Washington State University. Judy dedicated 30 years to the sorority, retiring in 2009. Judy loved her job and the thousands of girls (and their families) she worked with. In 1996 she recedived the National Kappa Alpha Theta Director's Award (best House Mother). Upon retiring she was intitated as an honorary member of the sorority.

Judy worked tirelessly at the local thrift store in Pullman. She loved to golf, play bridge and was an aciive member of PEO. She was an avid junker (antiquier).

Judy is survived by her Children, Son Tremaine and Lindy Smith, Olympia, WA. Daughter, Jeanine Smith, Pullman, WA. Grandchildren, Stephanie Smith, Corey and Lindsey

Smith, Ben Smith, and a great grandson, Kyle Smith. Judy is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ann Smithwick, West Seattle, WA and numerous neices and nephews.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Pauline Westover, Mary Ann Raykovich, Mable Faucher and brother, Harry (Bus) Smithwick.

A graveside service will be held October 8, 2016 at 10:30 am at Reservation Community Memorial Park 5161 West Wapato RD. Wapato, WA.
