

Leah Marie Olney-Rodriguez, age 59, of Yakima, WA passed away on July 26, 2016 at Cottage in the Meadow surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on March 27, 1957 to Marvin A. Olney and Ellen Ruth Adam at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, CA.
While living in Santa Monica, CA she attended catholic school, along with her sisters, until she was 12 years old. In 1969 her father Marvin A. Olney, sister Sonny Olney, and her other sister Regina Ruth (Olney) Garcia all moved to Washington State. They settled in Wapato, WA where Leah and her sisters all went to public school. When Leah was in high school she was a cheerleader.
On June 4, 1984 she married the love of her life Pete Rodriguez. Leah always loved to go fishing and camping with her family. She also enjoyed playing pool and playing bingo. Leah was an amazing singer, which she loved to do very much. Leah also loved spending time with her grandchildren as well as her dog Eddie and her cat Peetie. From 1990 to 1997 she worked at Western RV as a QA Inspector.
She is survived by her husband Pete Rodriguez of Yakima; her 2 sons, Michael (Nikkie) Coleman and Silvio Olney both of Yakima; her 12 grandchildren; her sister, Regina R. Garcia of Wapato; her 2 nephews Chris (Maria) Garcia and Joseph L. Garcia II both of Wapato; her great-niece Mia Rosa Garcia; her great-nephew Joseph L. Garcia III both of Wapato; and Godson Everett Preciado of Wapato. Leah is also survived by her dog Eddie; her cat Peetie; and extended family and friends.
Leah was preceded in death by her father Marvin A. Olney; her mother, Ellen Ruth Adams, her sister Sonny Olney; her brother-in-law Joseph L. Garcia Sr.; and her aunt Georgie Kreisa.
We would like to send a special thanks to all the staff at Cottage in the Meadow for taking care of Leah on her final days. Also a special thanks to Nico and Darlene Salamanca for helping with food and for all the support they gave to the family. Our family is very grateful for all the help and love everyone has given.
Leah we will never forget you and you will always be in our hearts. We love you and we will all miss you.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato with a Graveside Service to immediately follow at Reservation Community Memorial Park in Wapato.
