

born and raised in Eagle Pass, Texas. Lidia moved to Wapato, Washington in 1948 with
her husband and oldest child. Lidia had a giving heart. Any opportunity she had, she
loved blessing people, especially with her cooking. She welcomed everyone into her
home with a warm hug, her delicious homemade food(whether you were hungry or not),
and would share her stories and wisdom as she watched you enjoy her cooking. Lidia
was all about family, taking people in and making them family. She became a mother
figure and grandmother figure to many extended family. She was preceded in death by
her husband Tomas Gonzales, son Robert Gonzales, step children Josefa Hererra and
Willie Gonzalez. She is survived by her sons Jesse and Joey Gonzales of Wapato.
Daughters Mary and Sonia Gonzales of Toppenish, Rosa Gonzales of Wapato, her step
children Roger Gonzales of Centralia and Anne Farias of Wapato. Along with many
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Visitation Service will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato, with the Recitation of the Rosary to start at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 12th, 2014 at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Wapato with burial to follow at Reservation Community Memorial Park. Merritt Funeral Home in entrusted with the arrangements.
