Mary Esther Collins

Mary received her early education in Sacramento, CA. She went on to marry the love of her life Mr. David Collins on February 22, 1958 in Reno, NV. In 1976, Mary and David relocated from Grass Valley, CA to the Yakima Valley where her husband worked in the lumber industry.

She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Wapato. Mary loved to cook for the church social events and her family, serving as a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts and caring for all her family’s needs. She will be remembered for her quiet commanding spirit and devotion to her family. We will miss you and remember you always.

She is survived by her sons Roy (Courtnie) Collins and Robert (Emma) Collins; sisters Virginia Taylor and Pamela Weatherman; grandchildren Teasha Howell, Mark Collins, Aksel Collins and great-grandson Channce Howell. Mary was preceded in death by her husband David, infant son Ronnie and her parents.

Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm, Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Merritt Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11 am, Friday, April 1, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Wapato with burial to follow at Reservation Community Memorial Park. Merritt Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
