

"Tamt i'aki Kusi" Mathew James McConville Sr passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on July 17, 2012. Dad was born May 11, 1958 in The Dalles, Ore. to Richard and Nancy McConville. He was an avid fisherman and was always on the Columbia River. He was 1 of 5 of the "Salmon Scam" Warriors that were sent to prison defending our Fishing Rights. He was raised in the Rock Creek and Goldendale Area, where he was an outstanding athlete for the Goldendale Timberwolves. He loved being with his family & friends. He married his "Babe" Ofi, December 31, 1983 and again in the religious ceremony June 22, 2002 at St. Peter Claver in Wapato, WA.
"Popps" as he was known to many also coached "Wapato Brat Pac," the girls team who made him proud by winning all over the northwest, He later coached AAU Boys Team also called "Wapato Brat Pac" Mat's reason for this team name was because they were the babies of their families. Popps was a great friend, always willing to share his knowledge of the land, the river and the people.
Dad also enjoyed hunting, playing pool, watching Deadliest Catch, Indianapolis Colts, Boston Celtics, Boxing, UFC & NFL football.
Mat is survived by his wife Ofilya McConville of 29 years, His Children Terry Pascua, Cyndi & William Pascua-Rasberry Jr., Sun-Son & Tracey McConville Jr., Jimmy Jackson, Jacob Atkins, Adam Albert, Pete Littlebull, & Judith Bentley. Grandchildren Joseph, Kyley, Pabo, Niko, Kincaid Pascua, Mariah (the one-man Moose-Meat Herd), Mario & John Rivera, Mackenzie, Mathew III, Mathias McConville, Dante, Jackie, Lawney, Mattie McConville of the home, Great-Granddaughter Isabella Pascua. Siblings Alfred & Alethe McConville, Regina McConville, Nellie McConville, Emily & Leo Charpentier, David McConville,Sean McConville, Rick & Jamie Jim. Extended Family Melvin Tewee & Family, "La Familia" Farias-Valdez of Wapato, Dj & Amy Garcia, Mike Porter, Janie Hooper, Lisa Isadore & Family, Shirley & Gary Iman, Also all Zone 6 Fishermen (it will never be the same).
We would also like to thank his "Care Givers" Kyle, JJ Bibles, Joey V., Artie C. Robert, Ricardo, Ricky, Curtis, Duke, Mikey, Maurice Moses, Tone-Loc, Bj, Rigo, Toker, Nate, Fuji, Anthony, Big-T, Pat, Chuy, Shawn, Josh, Damon, Alec, Jay, and Freddy D.

Mat was Preceded in Death by His Son Mathias S. McConville, His Parents, Brother Richard "Sonny" McConville, Mother and Father in-law Arnulfo & Aurora Valdez, Sister in-law Vicki Valdez, Brother in-law Mario Valdez, Nephews Chepio Valdez & Tracy McConville, God Daughter Dolores Hernandez.
Dressing Services will be 2:00 PM on Thursday July 19, 2012 at Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato, WA. Following the dressing service he will be transported to the Rock Creek longhouse for overnight services burial will be at sunrise Friday July 20, 2012 at Blackwolf Cemetery.
