Robert Carl Schibig

Robert C. Schibig, 88, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 while surrounded by family. Robert was born in Yakima and grew up in Wapato. He retired from Inland Fruit after 32 years of work in refrigeration, while he also farmed his 20+ acre farm in Wapato. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many fishing trips with family and friends over the years. He was married for 48 years to Loraine until her death in 2000.

He is survived by his 12 children, Mary, Jim, Alan, Ron (Kelly), Tom, Louise Weber (John), Ray, Joe, Theresa Wellman (Steve), Rob (Ann), Susan Schoolcraft (Marty), and Karen; 22 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren; his brother, Harold (Lois), and sister, Caroline Hathaway (Pete).

Viewing will be held at Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at St. Paul Cathedral in Yakima.
