

Steve was born May 10, 1949 in Yakima to Clarence and Esther (Wittenberger) Dotson. He was raised and educated in Wapato, and graduated from Wapato High School. Steve enlisted in the U.S. Army and served & survived the Vietnam Era.
Steve liked spending time with the grandkids and great grandkids. He spent almost every minute with his wife Genevieve, whom he loved so much. Steve enjoyed being a coach, and playing baseball & pool. He enjoyed telling lots of fishing stories, his jobs at the Road Runner Mini Mart, and the UIA Bingo. Steve liked to travel and go to all the Casinos. His fondest memories were being the coach for the Yakama Nation Super Sonics.
Steve is survived by his wife, Genevieve Broncho Dotson; sons, Ron Enick, Roger Enick, Leon Enick, and Kevin Whitney; daughters, Lisa Enick, Maryjo Whitney, and Antoinette Compo; sister, Phyllis Cassidy; 30 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Simeon Whitney, grandson Sterling, and “Granny” Mary Shawaway.

Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday February 21, 2011 at Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato. Following the viewing, at 1:00 p.m., he will be transported to the All Tribes Christian Life Center (Hwy 97 & Progressive Road) for overnight services.
