Adelaide Hedwig Cricks, age 78 of Macomb Township, died Saturday, October 3, 2020 at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born September 23, 1942 in Detroit, daughter of the late Earl Raymond and the late Josephine Agnes (nee: Brazen) Storey.
Adelaide poured the best of herself into her adoring family, and always strove to be the finest homemaker and Mom to her loved ones. Cooking, cleaning, and keeping the home-fires burning bright was where Adelaide shined, and she was definitely the light of the world to her cherished family. Exercising her role as Matriarch seemed to come natural for Adelaide, and she made it look like a cake walk. But to her benefit, the work and chores that kept her busy were merely a part of the whole,…and the rest was filled with things she loved to do and experience, like feeding her appetite for sports. If she was looking to participate, then you would have often found her loading up her fishing rod and tackle box as she headed off to one of her favorite fishing holes. Nothing says fun and peacefulness like casting out your line and enjoying the quiet and serenity,…right up until that bobber took a dip in the water. Then it was Game On, Baby! If Adelaide was seeking to catch a sporting event on television, then there was no better combination than an ice-cold beer and a Red Wings hockey game. Watching our guys in their Winged Wheel jerseys making us proud never grew old,…even through the lean years. But hey, that’s what they make beer for, right?
Another of Adelaide’s favorite pastimes was enjoying a game of cards with family and friends, especially the games of Euchre and Pinochle. There was always something special in getting others around the card table as the cards were slung in great anticipation of taking the trick or winning the hand. Between the card playing, the competition, and the table banter, Adelaide managed to rack up more than wins,…she made many wonderful memories filled with friendship and laughter, the “real winning” in life.
Adelaide also loved to travel and visit sights that were both familiar and foreign, but certainly provocative. And there was no better traveling companion than her sister-in-law, Mater Storey. These Traveling Diva’s possessed a portfolio of the trips, treks and journeys they shared, memories made to last a lifetime.
Adelaide touched a multitude of hearts and souls as she journeyed through life. Many will remember her in different ways, but all will covet the memory of her feisty personality and her sassy sense of humor. She always kept you on your toes and laughing from your belly, and her entertaining spirit will be sorely missed. Of course, missing her most will be her adoring family, the precious souls that meant the world to her. A loving mother and grandmother, Adelaide leaves behind a warm and beautiful legacy of love for all to cherish with each reflection shared. May she, now, rest peacefully, safe in the arms of God.
Adelaide was the loving mother of Kenneth (Jody) Cricks, Tina (Sam) DiBernardo, and Heather Mulawa. Devoted grandmother of Jeremy (Joey) Cricks, Adam (Misty) Cricks, Ashley DiBernardo, and Tyler Mulawa. Cherished great-grandmother of Joevy, Journey, Jerzey, Jasper, Nyla, Dominic, and Justice. Dear sister of LaVerne (the late Ted) Grabski, Almeda (the late George) Snediker, Chester (the late Carol) Storey, and the late Evelyn (George) Orsargos, Elizabeth (George) Ross, Gordon, Charles, Lester, Marvin, William, and Mike Storey. Sister-in-law of Maree Storey, Janice Storey, and Linda (Bob) O’Leary. She is also survived by many treasured nieces and nephews, and other loving family members.
