Alberto "Albert" Clemente Ciaglia, age 91, died on Monday, December 14, 2015 at Sunrise Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born on November 3, 1924 in Italy, son of the late Alfredo Ciaglia and the late Celeste (nee: Domenica) Ciaglia.Born in Collarmele, Italy, in the Province of L'Auila, Alberto (more commonly known to most as "Al") grew and matured in his homeland and, ultimately, answered the call of his nation's military during World War II. As a soldier in the Italian Army, Al served his country with pride and honor and deserves our posthumous gratitude for being a part of the effort that helped liberate his country, as well as supporting our boys in their efforts, too. Following his service in the military, Al decided to pick up stakes and head west to the land of opportunity, the United States of America. In making that trek, his journey to the U.S. took him through our neighbor to the north, Canada. It was there that Al's life was pleasantly and wonderfully changed upon meeting the woman who would sweep him off his feet, his bride-to-be, Elsie. Their courting turned to love, and love took them to the altar where they exchanged their vows and became husband & wife. It wasn't long before Al picked up stakes again and moved to the booming metropolis of Detroit. It was there that he and Elsie began building upon their dreams and visions for the future, and built the comforts of home, hearth, and family together. But to tackle all of his dreams and visions, Al called upon his hard-work ethics and an incredible entrepreneurial spirit which led him to begin his own, small business as a Barber. With natural-born hair cutting skills and a good pair of scissors, Al embarked upon a career that became most rewarding and included a vast clientel,…with such celebrity mentionables as the Detroit Wings', Gordie Howe and Alex Delvecchio. When you're sportin' dudes like that, you know you're livin' large! Al experienced many years of success in his small piece of the ownership pie,…right up until the Fab 4 from England made their appearance and hairdo's took on a whole different genre. Yes, the Beatles' "long hair" started the snowball rolling that ultimately led to Al's exiting the realm of hair cutting, and turned his sights to the booming automotive industry. He accepted a position at the Ford Motor Company, and it is there that he would spend the next 11 years until retiring in 1981.Following retirement, Al found great enjoyment in working around the house,…tinkering with various chores and making sure the ship was on course. He was also quite adept in producing his own, homemade Italian Sausage, which he now had plenty of time to make. And then there was "Willow," his precious furry friend and dog who he just loved walking around the neighborhood.A loving husband, father and grandfather, Al was not only the consummate family man, but he was the kind of guy who was known and loved by all. From the many who warmed his barber chair, to the many who warmed his heart at home, Al leaves a legacy of love and friendship to be honored and embraced with each reflection shared. He touched a multitude of hearts and souls in his journey through life; may he forever be remembered by those who were blessed to know him. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally. He was the beloved husband of the late Elsie. Dear father of Lisa (Dave) Nordman, Sue (the late Dean) Ciaglia, and the late David Ciaglia. Loving grandfather of Christian (Derren) Ciaglia, Nicole Ciaglia, and Bradley Ciaglia. Visitation for Albert will be held on Wednesday, December 23rd from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile) in Warren. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. Please share memories of Alberto at his memory book above.
