Alfred, a devoted family man, entrepreneur, and friend to many, passed away surrounded by loved ones. He was proud of his roots, having grown up in Detroit, Dearborn, and Dearborn Heights.
Alfred’s early years were spent at Pardee School, St. Sebastian, and Harvey Lowrey School, where he graduated. He was active and full of energy, excelling at baseball, becoming an excellent bowler, and enjoying skiing and golf. He also had a creative side, playing the accordion with great enthusiasm.
After high school, Alfred attended Henry Ford Community College before serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Hood, Texas. His sense of discipline, service, and hard work carried with him throughout life.
Alfred’s entrepreneurial spirit led him into both real estate and business ownership. He successfully ran Century 21 Shore Pointe in St. Clair Shores and later owned Delta Industries, an industrial flooring manufacturing company in Warren. He had a sharp mind for opportunity, whether in business ventures, the stock market, or real estate investments.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Alfred loved life’s simpler joys—fishing, cheering on the Detroit Tigers, and gathering with his family. His greatest joy was being a grandfather to his beloved grandson, Colton. Whether they were watching sports, learning new things together, playing video games, or racing remote-control cars, Alfred cherished every moment spent with him.
He will be remembered for his passion, generosity, and devotion to those he loved. Alfred’s legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the family he leaves behind.
He was the beloved father of Kimberly Smith. Devoted grandfather of Colton Thomas Smith. Dear brother of Frances (the late Richard) Ables, Joseph (Cynthia) Ligi, and Frank (Donna) Ligi. He was also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and other friends and family.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, 11am until the time of his funeral service at 3pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road). He will be interred on Monday at 12:30pm at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights.
