Alice Boger, age 89 of Warren, died Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at home. She was born on November 26, 1921 in Detroit, the daughter of the late John and the late Martha (nee: Elwart) Starosta. Along with lovingly fulfilling the role of wife, mother, and grandmother, Alice was most proud of the work that took her outside of the house as well. Employed as an accountant in the automotive industry, she extended many years of dedicated service until the time of her retirement. When she wasn't working, there were a few things that caught her interest and gave her moments of pure joy. One of those satisfied her sporting prowess through the ever-familiar and friendly game of bowling. The sounds of the balls rolling down the lanes and the pins crashing at the ends was music to her ears. Together, she and husband, Richard were a part of many bowling leagues over the years, and the two truly enjoyed the comaraderie and fun the game provided. She was also a fan of traveling, with two of her favorite memories being the tropical escapes to Hawaii and the entertaining fare of Las Vegas. But perhaps the most endearing pastime she enjoyed was that of dancing. Whether it was the lively & exuberant polka, or the ever-romantic waltz, sharing the dance floor with her loving soulmate brought her unspeakable hours of pleasure. Now, as Alice exchanges the arms of her beloved for the arms of God, she leaves behind a legacy of love that will be a constant reminder of how deeply she cared for and touched the lives of those she was blessed to know. She will be immensely missed and treasured. She was the beloved wife of Richard. Dear mother of Elaine (Tom) Hall, Leonard (Mary) Boger, and Marilyn (Paul) Torzewski. Loving grandmother of Michael (Michele), Matthew, Laura, Andrew, Kaitlin, and great-grandmother of Nicholas. Visitation for Mrs. Boger will be held on Sunday, February 20th from 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. She will lie in state on Monday from 9:00am until the time of Mass at 9:30am at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Road in Warren. Officiating the Mass will be Father Roman Pasieczny. Interment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Please share memories of Mrs. Boger at her guest book.
