Aloisius Gorny

Aloisius Gorny, age 91 of Warren, died Monday, June 27, 2011 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan. He was born on August 28, 1919 in Chelmno, Poland, the son of the late Joseph and the late Ludwika (nee: Sadowska) Gorny. Employed in the automotive industry as a tool crib attendant, many will remember him more affectionately as the organist, for many years, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Detroit. More of a ministry than a job, Mr. Gorny's organ playing was an extension of his heart, and his incredible music skills and talents. Music was a large part of his life and, truly, enveloped his soul. Whether for the organ at church or his piano at home, Mr. Gorny spent countless hours "tickling the ivories" and filling a room with joy. Upon his retirement, his music appreciation took on a unique and interesting aspect as he delved into the realm of marimba building. The intracacies and meticulous detail that went into constructing each of the instruments was but another testament to the music in his heart. And not only was he gifted in playing the music "in" his heart, he was also renowned for the music that came "from" his heart as a music composer as well. Even unto his last weeks at the nursing home, he was still active in entertaining his fellow resident's with a taste of his piano magic. They absolutely loved him and the sunshine he brought into their lives,...and the nursing home will never be the same. He will truly be missed by all. A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, he leaves behind a legacy of love that will be treasured by all who were blessed to know him,...especially his dear family. The lives he touched were many here on Earth, and now he's touching the angels in Heaven with his musical inspirations. Play it again, Al! Visitation for Mr. Gorny will be held on Wednesday, June 29th from 3-9pm, with a 7pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. His Funeral Service will be held Thursday, 10:30am at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Robert Witkowski. Entombment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. Memorial donations, in Mr. Gorny's name, are welcomed to the American-Polish Cultural Center, 2975 E.
