Anna V. LaLonde, age 78, died Thursday, September 19, 2013 surrounded by her family at her daughter's home in Warren. She was born April 3, 1935 in Detroit, daughter of the late Joseph and the late Mary (nee: Maloney) Brown.Anna was a lover of life. She enjoyed walking the beach in Hammond, Michigan at the family's cottage to the sounds of some fast-paced square dancing music. On rainy days, she would bring out the cards, games and puzzles to keep herself busy. A big part of Anna's life were her "grand-animals"...those "furry loved ones" who brought her countless hours of joy. When it came to the things she enjoyed, Anna's pastimes were great in number and an eclectic array as well. One of her favorites was the gathering of those special to her heart. Whether with family or neighbors, she simply enjoyed entertaining company, and found great delight in cooking for the group with her own panache and tender-loving-care. Anna definitely worked her magic in the kitchen, and there was never a hunger belly to leave her table. It truly provided her a sense of joy and reward to watch her company's faces as they partook of her culinary talents. Yet, of all her cooking enjoyment, feeding her family provided the greatest pride & joy...especially when the grandkid's eyes lit up when they enjoyed what they were eating. Anna was also known for her volunteer work with hospice and was also active with the University of Michigan's ALS Research Program. As for everyone that had the chance to meet Anna, whether through her volunteer work, groups or organizations,...the legacy of love she leaves behind is strong and true and will live on through the memories that are sure to be quickened with each remembrance. She will be missed immensely and remembered eternally.Anna was the beloved wife of John. Loving mother of John (Joyce), Patricia (James) Vanootighem, Daniel (Mary), Barbara (the late Randy) Zinn, and the late Kathleen LaLonde. Dear grandmother of Robert (Sandy Yaroch) Mitchell, Aimee (Kyle) Norman, TJ Witt, and Emily Wolper. She is also survived by many loving brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, wonderful friends, and her precious "grand-animals".
