Anne Louise Nader (nee: Assaff), age 88, died Thursday, August 27, 2015 at St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren, Michigan. Anne was born January 29, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Anthony Assaff and the late Labebe (nee: Housh) Assaff. At a young age, for both Anne and her children, the death of her husband, and the children's father, ushered Anne into the challenges and world of single motherhood at a time when it wasn't so common. Yet she soldiered on, as any loving mother would, and answered the call that was necessary in caring for her little ones at home. Part of that meant securing employment which she did with the automotive supplier, Federal Mogul, where she worked as a secretary to their sales team. After 35 years of dedicated service and loyalty to the company, Anne accepted her well-deserved retirement in 1987,…and finally said good-bye to the grinding commute to & from work. She loved the job, but detested that drive!Later in life, Anne's need to stay busy was filled by something more charitable,…this time as a volunteer in the medical arena. For over 10 years, she gave of her time and talents in the Radiology Department at St. John Hospital in Detroit where she assisted in typing orders and reports, a job she loved and found very rewarding. When she was able to find a little quiet time, you would have probably found her with a book in her hands. Not merely avid, rather "voracious" would be the appropriate term to describe Anne's love for reading. It always provided her the perfect escape for a little entertainment, and a source in keeping her mind sharp as well.Like many Mom's and Grandma's out there, Anne was known for being quite the adept and knowledgeable cook who could work some culinary magic with her stove and oven. Whatever she put together was always tasty and delicious, but never more so than when she prepared some of her favorite Lebanese dishes. With that as her family heritage, Anne knew many of the old world recipes and spent a lifetime creating countless Lebanese feasts that brought smiles of pleasure from all who partook. If you left Anne's table hungry, you just weren't tryin'!Another of Anne's favorite pastimes was enjoyed traveling, especially when it meant joining her loved ones on a cruise. All that scenic splendor, the ship-board pampering, and making wonderful memories while out-to-sea with family, all made for the perfect vacation venue and source a great reflection. The other form of traveling she enjoyed was visiting the casinos with her sisters. Nothing says fun like getting your siblings together and giving those one-armed bandits a run for their money. Amongst the memorable traits that define this great lady, perhaps one of the most prominent is how deeply devoted she was to her faith. She loved her church and the caring friendships created throughout the years,…first at St. Maron's, then later at St. Sharbel Maronite Church in Sterling Heights. Anne possessed the heart of a servant and touched many lives with her unique and genuine spirit.Yet of all the lives she impacted the most, her dear family were the greatest benefactors,…especially her precious grandchildren. Family meant the world to Anne and spending time in their company never ceased to offer her the warm-fuzzies that love provides. And she never glowed more radiantly than when she shared those special moments with her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren,…and yes, one great-great cherub, as well.A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Anne leaves behind a storehouse of wonderful memories for all to draw from who were blessed to know her, and a legacy of love that will continue to permeate each heart that reflects and remembers. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Anne was the beloved wife of the late John Nader, and is the loving mother of John (Arlene) Nader and Libby (Bill) Leavy. Devoted grandmother of Jon (Julie) Nader, Kristin (Jared) Stark, Elaine (Kenneth) Mazzaro, Michael (Deana) Miller, Victor Castano, Martin (Yvette) Castano; great-grandmother of Felicia, Santino, Jessica, Yesenia, Mitchell, Lauren, Alec, Audrina, Kendall, Rylee, Jordan, and great-great grandmother of Lexi, and the late Connor. Dear sister of Mary Bringer, Amelia Curis, Adele Abraham, Sylvia (Fouad) Akouri, the late Joseph Assaff, the late Louis Assaff, and the late Josephine "Sue" David .
