Annie Franks, age 87 of Warren, died Sunday, January 6, 2013 at her home in Warren. Annie was born October 19, 1925 in Coatbridge, Scotland. Annie would migrate with her parents to the United States at the age of three. She was raised in Detroit and later moved to Warren where she and her husband, Roy would reside for many years.A loving wife, daughter, sister, stepmother, aunt, friend and neighbor, Annie truly had a heart of gold and could make any room light up as soon as she entered. She loved life,...and" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...and" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...and" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...and" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...and all the people she was blessed to meet in her journey through it. Possessing all the attributes and compassion as the servant of God she was, Annie treated everyone as if you were the sole person in her life. For over 34 years, Annie took much pride in the dedicated service she rendered as an employee with the General Motors corporation. But it could easily be stated that the best of herself was extended through the care and compassion she poured upon her loved ones. Prior to marrying her beloved Roy, Annie lived in the family home where she took care of her Mom & Dad, and sister, Margaret, who was challenged with special needs. Following the passing of her parents and Roy, she continued to care for Margaret,...and the love she held for her sister was very real as evidenced by her constant abiding and care. From the hospital stays, to the nursing home, back home, then ultimately to Margaret's residence at the Sanctuary at the Abbey in Warren, Annie was always there,...right by her sister's side. During Margaret's last 2 years at the Abbey, there wasn't a day that Annie wasn't there to extend the utmost in care, companionship, and to assure that her sister's needs were being met. She would even sacrifice the various family gatherings to be with Margaret,...but that was simply Annie!Yet, even though Annie's plate was full in attending to the needs of others, there were some special moments and activities that stood out as highlights along the way. Some of them came through her love of travel. From enjoying the splendor of America in places such as California, Florida and Las Vegas, to her memorable trip to Italy where she was blessed to visit the Vatican,...her travel portfolio was rife with wonderful memories. Then there was the McDonald's memories. For over 25 years, she and a small group of friends would meet there daily to simply chat and share in the joys of friendship and fellowship. It was a long-standing tradition that meant the world to her,...and became even more special when they celebrated one another's birthday's with a little sweet treat.Annie considered herself incredibly blessed, even up to the age of 87, that she was still able to drive and get around to all of the places she needed to go. She only looked for help when it was absolutely necessary,...and in those times, her neighbors were always there, always a Godsend, and true pillars of friendship when it counted. She would always remark how thankful and lucky she was to have them around. Her niece recalls what a beautiful person she was, both heart & soul. She only saw the good or the best in people. She always thanked the person who would hold the door for her, or would help her to her car. To quote Annie, "We old people need all the help we can get,"...which would always be accompanied with a smile. She was an angel on earth,...and now, to those who were blessed to know her, life beckons forward. There is definitely a spot that will go unfilled. Annie was a great teacher and mentor to many, and leaves behind a legacy of love and lessons that will never be forgotten. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.Annie was the beloved wife of the late Roy A. Franks, cherished sister of Mary (the late Walter) Delaney, and the late Edward, Margaret, and Alexander McCormick. She was the sister in-law of Loretta McCormick, and dear stepmother of Janet (Joseph) Kierpiec, Judith Duffus, Dale (Martha) Franks, Margo (Paul) Kurtzman, Mark (Karen) Franks, and the late Roy Franks Jr. Mrs. Franks is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and family members. Visitation for Annie will be Friday from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road), with an evening Vigil at 7pm.
