

Anthony Fionda, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on August 13, 2024, at the age of 90, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 1, 1934, in Detroit, Michgian to Domenico and Giovanna (née Soave) Fionda, Tony’s life was a testament to love, kindness, and joy.
Anthony met the love of his life, Barbara Lee Precthel, in 1956 at a roller skating rink, when they were twenty-two and seventeen years old. Their connection was immediate and deep, leading to a marriage on July 12, 1958. Together, they shared sixty-six years of happiness, supporting and cherishing each other through every chapter of their lives.
Barbara and his family were the most important things in life to Anthony, and this was evident in his willingness to do anything and everything for them. Anthony ensured his loved ones were always cared for and secure, embodying a kindness and warmth that touched everyone he met.
His love for his family was matched only by his passion for life’s simple pleasures. His days were often filled with card games, checkers, and board games, creating treasured memories with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed golfing, roller skating and skate dancing even after all these years, and spending time with Barbara, friends, and other close loved ones.
Anthony’s deep faith was also a cornerstone in his life. He was a devoted member of St. Anne’s Parish for most of his adult life, where he found solace and community. Anthony always knew that no matter what he was facing or experiencing, the Lord would take care of him.
Anthony is remembered fondly for his unwavering love, his gentle heart, and the joy he brought into the lives of those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, faith, and cherished memories.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Lee Fionda; his children, Sandra (Gary) Russell, and Karen (the late Pete) Millar; his grandchildren, Michael (Rachel) Russell, Nicholas Russell, Peter Millar, and Johanna (Chet) Baldiga; his great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Chloe, Aidan, Seth, Evander, and Cynthia; his sister-in-law, Linda Fionda; and a host of friends and family who were touched by his life and love. Preceded in death by his parents, Domenico and Giovanna Fionda; his siblings, Alex Fionda, Ben (Helen) Fionda, Josephine Fionda, and Louise (Orville “Mac”) Mcburney; and his grandson Jimmy Millar.
Anthony’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Visitation for will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, located on 30009 Hoover Road, Warren, Michigan 48093.
Anthony will lie instate on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 9:30 am until the time of Mass at 10:00 am held at St. Anne Parish, located at 32000 Mound Road, Warren, Michigan 48092.
Anthony will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
