Antoinette Kyewski, age 84, died Monday, May 27, 2019 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy. She was born June 11, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Ernesto Volante and the late Pauline (nee: Fucinari) Volante.
Happy & blessed to be the homemaker and caregiver for her wonderful husband and three beautiful boys, Toni (as she was more affectionately known to all) poured the best parts of herself into making their house a home, and filling it with her own style of love and compassion. And like many women of her day, some of that lovin’ came in the form of the incredible meals she prepared. Able to give ample competition to any chef out there, Toni loved to cook,…especially when she was doing it for her loved ones. A true Italian by heritage, you just know that she was taught at a young age how to make someone’s mouth water and palate jump for joy. All she needed was a stone, an oven, and some preparation space, and it wasn’t long before a culinary masterpiece was being delivered to the table.
When Toni’s tasks were behind her and she was able to enjoy a little “me time,”…you’d often find her baiting her hook and casting her line down at one of her favorite fishing spots. Sure, there was obviously some element of the sporting prowess involved,…but she would have probably told you that there was also a genuine sense of peacefulness and serenity between bites that simply could not be explained, merely felt and experienced.
For the many who truly knew Toni, they’ll easily attest to one of her other favorite pastimes,…giving Ol’ Lady Luck a run for her money. Yes, Toni was huge into games of chance, and Bingo was often the game of choice. There was simply something special and attractive in sharing this pastime with friends and neighbors, but also something invigorating when it was her time to yell out, “BINGO!” When she wanted to kick it up a notch and step out on the wild side, that often meant heading for the casino and throwing caution to the wind. She loved to give those one-armed bandits the exercise of a lifetime,…often in one night. Forever in search of that “pot at the end of the rainbow,” she mostly settled for the fun and camaraderie of the memories that were made in the process.
Yet when it came to making memories, there were none more precious than those created with her loved ones,…especially when it included her treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Toni adored them beyond expression, and they were truly the light of her life. They say it’s the youth in our lives that remind us of our own deep inside, and her six jewels radiated a glow that warmed her heart immeasurably.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Toni strove to provide her family a balanced sense of living, loving and laughing, and was a true embodiment of them all. She touched a multitude of hearts and souls in her journey through life, may those she blessed be blessed themselves with each reflection embraced. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.
Toni was the beloved wife of the late Frank. Dear mother of Walter (Gail) Kyewski, Frank Kyewski, and Donald (Dawn) Kyewski. Loving grandmother of Frank (Melissa) James, Derrick, Katie, and great-grandmother of Benjamin and Joseph.
