

Arthur W. Piatt, 80, of Sterling Heights died Saturday, July 14, 2007, in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Clinton Township. He was born February 19, 1927, in Detroit. Mr. Piatt married Gloria Serafine in 1952, and they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in May. He had more than 40 years of service with General Motors Corp.working first with Fisher Body and then retiring in 1992 as an Electrical/Electronics Design Room Supervisor from Cadillac Motor Car Division. He was a past president of the Dodge Park Estates Homeowners Association in Sterling Heights and a former volunteer at St. John Macomb Hospital. A Warren resident for 41 years, Mr. Piatt was among the founding parishioners of St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Warren. He was a past president of the churchs Holy Name Society an ushers Club. Mr. Paitt served in the Army during World War II and was presented a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition in 2006 for his World War II military service by U.S. Rep. Ander Crenshaw of Florida. His family said he was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Gloria; daughter, Claudia (Gus) Kerr; son, Gregory Piatt; grandchildren, Jared and Noelle Kerr; brother, Paul (Michelle) Piatt and uncle to several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Pearl Piatt; and brothers, Daniel and Thomas Piatt; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Piatts funeral will be Friday at St. Sylvester Church, 11200 12 Mile Road, Warren. He will be in state 10 a.m. at the church with a Funeral Mass celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Thursday at D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road (at Common Road), Warren with a 7 p.m. rosary recital at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
