Barbara Ellen Covyeau, "Barb" age 61 of Shelby Township, passed away at home on Sunday, August 15, 2021. She was born August 12, 1960 in Royal Oak, Michigan, daughter of the late Edward Gilbert Davis, Sr., and the late Eleanor Louise (nee: Marsh) Davis.
Blessed to have Cupid’s arrow pierce her heart with her first husband Joseph Loneske whom she married May 26, 1979 at Covenant Presbyterian Church in East Detroit. Joe and Barb first settled on the eastside of Detroit and later built their dream home in Armada, Michigan on 11 beautiful acres of land. The couple enjoyed the peacefulness and serenity of the small town life where they raised their five children,...and often wondered if they would ever see Armada's version of Sheriff Taylor & Deputy Fife comin' around the corner. Unfortunately, after 20 years together, their marriage would come to an end. However, love would again come calling a second time in life,...as, obviously, Cupid's quiver had more than one arrow readied for just such a time. Barb was a mere 41 years old when she and her husband-to-be, Fred, shared their vows of marriage in the beautiful setting of the Cherry Creek Golf Club in Shelby Township, Michigan. Right around the period of the Thanksgiving holiday, the date was November 24, 2001 when they shared their “I Do’s,”…and the two lovebirds couldn’t have been more thankful to capture love again. Barb’s passing comes just shy of their 20th wedding anniversary.
From Barb’s professional side came her career as an Esthetician, the art of enhancing a person’s beauty through applying treatments and performing procedures to the skin as a way to maintain its health & vitality. Working solely as a self-employed entrepreneur, Barb’s knowledge and skills were highly sought after and she was responsible for countless stories of beauty that were born through her natural talents and gifts. Yet even though she enjoyed wonderful successes in bringing beauty to the lives of others, there was no greater beauty to befall Barb’s heart & life than the love of her five children and her six grandchildren. As time pressed on and her children grew older and their lives took on greater responsibilities, that meant it was time for Grandma to leap into action,…and she couldn’t have been happier than to fill the role of babysitter. For Barb, it was truly a “labor of love.” If you were to search up “Adoring Grandma” in the dictionary, don’t be surprised if it’s accompanied by a picture of Barb.
Known for her warm and inviting spirit of hospitality, nobody made you feel more welcomed than Barb. If someone was in need, she was always there with open arms. If someone needed to be clothed, Barb was the kind of person who would give them the shirt off her back. And if Barb sensed someone needed an extra dose of love, her warm embrace could melt a heart in moments. Yes,…she was truly imbued with a servant’s heart and was always listening for the Father’s leading. Barb was a woman abounding in faith and infused with a heart for evangelism. She ministered to countless lives in the Bible studies she hosted, and was truly gifted in her music ministry as well. With guitar in hand and a desire to help usher souls into the presence of the Lord, Barb found immense joy in leading worship and being filled with the spirit herself through the music God gave her to share. Her spirit will live on and the memories of her deep and abiding faith are sure to be embraced with each reflection shared.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, nobody entertained like Barb! When it came to her family dinners, mealtimes were like a rehearsal for a Heavenly feast. Just give her a stove, an oven, and some room to prepare,…then just step back and watch the magic unfold. The Galloping Gourmet had nothin’ on Barb. If you left her table hungry, you just weren’t tryin’! And not merely with edible food, she fed her family with manna from above, too. Making sure her family was spiritually fed meant the world to her,…and that was, indeed, her most meaningful ministry. Barb leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love and a storehouse of precious memories for her family and friends to cherish. She will be missed beyond expression and loved beyond measure.
Barb was the beloved wife of Frederick “Fred” Covyeau. Dearest mother of Jeremy Loneske, Rebecca (Kevin) Peranio, Anna (Jason) Tyranski, Joshua Loneske, and the late Jason Loneske. Loving grandmother of Kaila, Aria, Luca, Serafina, Christian, and Harper. Cherished sister of Edward Gilbert Davis, Jr., Janet Maxson, and Carolyn Napoleon. She also leaves “fur baby, Bailey,” her precious Yorkie to watch over Fred.
