Barbara Jane Simon

Barbara Jane Simon, age 94 of Grosse Pointe Woods, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. She was born February 26, 1927 in Detroit, daughter of the late John and the late Ottilie (nee: Krieger) Hilbert.

At 94 years of age, Barbara was blessed with a long life filled with many wonderful blessings, the greatest of which were the 6 beautiful children that she and Philip welcomed into their world. Barbara was proud of the family she raised as well as providing them all life's greatest of comforts. With a loving husband and six kids, Barbara was often quite a busy lady tending to the home, meals, kids’ school and sports schedule all while helping her husband run the family business.

Barbara was competitive as she enjoyed golfing and bowling with her husband and friends. She was also passionate about her card games with her friends. 

Yet of all the joys and pleasures Barbara held dearest was the love of her family. From her children came her 19 adoring grandchildren, from them, her 12 amazing great-grandchildren. Barbara leaves behind an incredible legacy of love to be embraced with each reflection shared by those who were blessed to know her and be loved by her. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. 

Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Philip G. Simon. Loving mother of Brad (Mary) Simon, Philip (Jane) Simon, Mark (Michelle) Simon, Jim Simon, Barbara (Michael) Ciaffone, and Marybeth (Dirk) Drieborg. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Barbara will lie in state on Tuesday, June 22nd from 11:30 am until the time of her Funeral Mass at 12:00 pm (Noon) at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 22412 Overlake Street in St. Clair Shores, Michigan.

Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
