

Bertha "Barbara" Dzierzawski, age 84, of Sterling Heights and formerly of Warren died Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Boulevard Health Care Center in Rochester Hills. Bertha was born October 08, 1926 in Coal Hill, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Joseph Benko and the late Bertha (nee: Karlok) Benko. Barbara was raised in Pennsylvania and eventually moved to Michigan with her family where she would meet her future husband Clarence. Barbara and Clarence would settle in Warren Michigan and raise four boys the two celebrated over 55 years of Holy Matrimony. Mrs. Dzierzawski was the traditional stay at home mom, a wonderful cook and baker; she also was the chief taxi driver carting her sons to all their sporting events and activities. Later in retirement she and her husband would often be found attending their grandchildrens activities or just spending time with their sons and their families. Mrs. Dzierzawski was the beloved wife of the late Clarence Dzierzawski, and the dearest mother of Ron (Peggy) Dzierzawski, Mark (Lisa) Dzierzawski, Randy (Kim) Dzierzawski, and Joseph (Julie) Dzierzawski. She was the loving grandmother of Kristin (Joshua), Kelly, Michael (Brenda), Traci (Joe), Michelle, Kevin, Ryan, Justin, Carly, Lilly, and the great-grandmother of Autumn, Mya, and Abigail. Also surviving are her siblings, Martha Shashura, Margaret Schiavi, Joseph Jr. (Eleanor) Benko, Emery (Barbara) Benko, Elizabeth Owczarczak, Mary (Jim) St. Germaine, and Nora (Ronald) Craig. Mrs. Dzierzawski was predeceased by her siblings John, Helen, and Michael. Visitation for Mrs. Dzierzawski will be Wednesday from 3-9pm, with a 7:30 Parastas Service at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Road). Mrs. Dzierzawski will lie in state 10am Thursday at St. Nicholas Byzantine Church, 23300 King Drive in Clinton Township until the time of the Funeral Service at 11am. The Celebrant for the service will be Mrs. Dzierzawskis nephew Father Brian St. Germaine. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.
