

Betty Hilda Gamester, age 81 of Washington Township, formerly of Shelby Township died Saturday, September 15, 2007 surrounded by her family. Betty was born May 06, 1926 in England the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Maidment. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Dennis Gamester, her children Barry Gamester, Linda (Jamie) Lachowski, and Janine (Rich) James. She is also the loving grandmother of Lisa, Samantha, and Ryan. Betty was raised in England and graduated from high school in the Northern London area. After her schooling Betty joined the W.A.A.F.s, the Womans Auxiliary Air Force in England, where she worked as a radio and telecommunications operator to support the allied forces during World War II. After the war she worked for Standard Telephone and Cable in England in payroll department, where she would eventually meet her future husband Dennis. After she was married, she and her husband moved to the United States in 1963, with her two young children and settled into the Detroit area to be close to her husbands family members in Windsor Ontario Canada. Once everything settled down they joined the Common Wealth Club of Warren and met many new friends. Betty's 3rd child was born once here in the U.S. Betty became a stay at home mom, who loved her rose gardens, golfing, swimming, and bowling. Also she enjoyed attending the theatre with her husband. Betty and her family loved to travel, whether it was short trips to Northern Michigan or long trips across the country. The family traveled yearly on vacation trips in the car with the kids visiting most of the states. Later Betty traveled with husband to Europe and many states with tour companies. Also on their 25th wedding anniversary they both went to Hawaii to celebrate. In the later years Betty and her husband enjoyed their "Sunday Drives" and stopping off for ice cream. Betty will be remembered most by her family as a loving and cherished mother. Visitation for Mrs. Gamester will be Tuesday from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 mile). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday with Betty laying in state 10 am. at Hope Lutheran Church, until the time of the Funeral Service at 11 am. Celebrating the Funeral will be Rev.
