Carl worked for the Detroit News for 38 years as a District Manager. He became known to all his carrier as Mr. D. He enjoyed his job working with the carriers and getting to know them and their families. He retired 38 years ago and found little odd jobs to keep him busy, often running into the carriers from years past and always remembering them by name.
In his free time, he enjoyed many activities with his friends, and could make a new friend everywhere he went. He could tell you how a golf course played even if he hadn’t played it himself in years. He loved a winning bet at the casino, and family parties and celebrations. He always had a smile on his face and something nice to say about you.
He was a man that was so very proud of his family. He was a supporting loving father to his three children and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Any activity that they were involved in he was right there cheering them on. As his grandchildren got older and started their careers, he was the first one that wanted to hear about them, asked them a million questions and just enjoy the time spent talking with them. Family meant everything to him. He was the only 88 year old that you needed to schedule plans with in advance, as often his schedule was full of time well spent with everyone who loved him.
A visitation for Carl will be held Monday, February 12, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Rd, Warren, Michigan 48088. An instate will occur Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
