Bob Zoss and Brenda Pike met during their high school days at East Detroit High School back in the 1970s.
The high school sweethearts married in January 1981 and, over a 41-year marriage, built an idyllic life filled with memories built with his wife, two daughters and three grandchildren.
Bob helped the children learn to ride bicycles, sat by a fire roasting marshmallows, and taught them how to ride dirt bikes at the cabin he loved in Paradise, Mich., where the family vacationed on weekends during the summer months.
Those were just some of the memories his family was leaning on in the wake of his passing. Carl Robert (Bob) Zoss died Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit. He was 65.
Bob was born in Detroit on Feb. 3, 1957, to Carl and Meredith Zoss. He attended what was, at the time, East Detroit High School (since renamed Eastpointe) and graduated in 1976.
His only sibling, sister Peggy, has a vivid memory of she and her beloved brother climbing on the lion and visiting Santa Claus at Eastland Mall in Detroit.
A quiet, patient and kind man loved by everyone who knew him, Bob loved boating and dirt-biking in the woods up north. He was a steady rock for his family and a devoted “Papa” to his grandchildren, who meant the whole world to Bob.
His grandson, Brayden, loved working on the dirt bikes with his Papa. Granddaughter Annabelle’s favorite memory was being picked up after school and getting fat noodles for dinner. And granddaughter Madison loved going to Disney with her “roller-coaster buddy.”
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Brenda (Pike) Zoss; daughters Jessica (Brad) Wren and Laura (Bruce) Zoss-Fisher; grandchildren Madison, Brayden and Annabelle, sister Margaret (Peggy Zoss) Kadrich; five nieces, one nephew, two great-nieces, with one great-niece on the way, and one great-nephew; father- and mother-in-law Robert and Phylis Pike; sisters-in-law Dawn and Ed Long and Robin (Dave) Bork.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Meredith Zoss, brother-in-law Bryan Kadrich, and Willow Fisher.
A visitation for Bob will be held Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Rd, Warren, Michigan 48088. An instate will occur Friday, November 18, 2022 from 11:30 AM until the time of the service at 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
