Catherine Cecelia Diegel, age 97 of Roseville and formerly a 50 year resident of Detroit died Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Shorepointe Nursing Center. Catherine was born June 26, 1914 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of the late John Salter and the late Emma (nee: Young) Salter. Mrs. Diegel was raised in Detroit and attended Assumtion Grotto grade school and later Denby High School. She lived the majority of her life in Detroit and was very active with St. Jude Catholic Parish. Mrs. Diegel along with her husband always believed in giving back to their community by volunteering. She was devout in her faith and resound in the love she showered on her family and grandchildren.Mrs. Diegel was the beloved wife of Sylvester Diegel and the loving mother of Edward (Kathy) Diegel, David (Mary Jo) Diegel, and Mary (Bernard) Borowski. Mrs Diegel is also the cherished grandmother of Debbie Diegel, Jennifer Diegel, Jeffrey Diegel, Emma (Jason) Kelley, Chris Borowski, Lisa Borowski, Julia Diegel, and great-grandmother of Danielle, Aidan, Gracie, and great great grandmother of Lucas. Visitation for Mrs. Diegel will be held Tuesday from 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski and Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd. at Common (12 ' mile), with a 7pm Vigil Service. Mrs. Diegel will lie in state 10 am Wednesday at St. Donald Catholic Church until the time of the Funeral Mass 10:30am. Celebrating the Funeral Liturgy will be Rev. Fr. Michael Donovan.
