Catherine E. Rohs, age 94 of Warren and formerly of Dearborn, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan. She was born on August 30, 1915 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Nicholas and the late Elizabeth (nee: Lambrecht) Rohs. For 39 years, Catherine had the joy and pleasure of touching thousands of lives as a teacher in the Detroit Public School system. With her appointment being at the elementary school level, she found great enjoyment and reward in molding and mentoring the young hearts and minds of the many children who passed through her doors. Upon her retirement, Catherine became a proud member of the D.A.R.S.P., the Detroit Association of Retired School Personnel. Being a teacher, it's no surprise that Catherine was an avid reader. Whether for education or simple enjoyment, she loved to curl up with a good book. And she loved working with her hands, too. From her creative side came her love for needlepoint and quilting. In fact, her quilting prowess was never more appreciated and enjoyed than when spent with her patch-making friends every Monday at the Berwyn School in Dearborn Heights. Together, they spent countless hours creating beautiful pieces of art and nurturing friendships around the table. But her talents didn't end there. Catherine was also noted for being a fantastic cook and an incredible baker. If you had a sweet tooth, she was the person who could satisfy your urge. If cookies were your delight, she had a storehouse of creations that her oven often produced. But her baking talents were never more enjoyed than with her infamous streudels and specialty cakes, many of which were 12 layers high. She was an amazing lady with many skills, and one who brought much to the table for both young and old alike. Surviving Catherine are her siblings; Theresa, Elizabeth, John, Nick, Frank, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Interment will take place at Royal Oak Cemetery in Royal Oak, Michigan. Arrangements were entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. Please share memories of Miss Rohs at her guest book.
