Cecil Homer McCall

Cecil was the devoted husband of 73 years to his beloved wife, Jean McCall. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and unconditional love. He was the proud and loving father of Cheryl (Danny) Gwyn and Kimberly (James) Steelman. He was a cherished grandfather to Danielle (Shaun Gray) Gwyn, Erika (Gary McCaslin) Gwyn, Michael (Raquel) Cunningham, Faith Steelman, Jean Steelman, and Lisa (Robert) Scott. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Dominic (Alexis) Gwyn, Damion McCaslin, Dylan McCaslin, Gianna Scott, Robert Scott Jr., Rosalie

Cunningham, and Sophia Juco. Cecil is also survived by his loving siblings, Austin McCall, Zana Smith, Eunice Mayes, and Ruby Major, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Known affectionately by many as "Smiley," Cecil truly never met a stranger. His warm smile, kind heart, and welcoming spirit made everyone feel like family. He loved spending time sitting in his garage, watching the neighborhood and visiting with neighbors who would always stop by for a chat. One of Cecil's greatest joys was repairing bicycles and giving them to neighborhood children, making sure every child had the opportunity to ride.

Born and raised on a farm in Kentucky, Cecil displayed courage and determination from an early age. At just 18 years old, he made the brave decision to leave home and begin a new life in Detroit. Through hard work, perseverance, and unwavering determination, he built a life of which he was deeply proud. Cecil was a man of remarkable strength and resilience, but above all, he was a man of unwavering faith. A devoted prayer warrior, he trusted God through every season of life and inspired those around him with his steadfast belief, compassion, and hope.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 12, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, in Warren. An instate will be on Monday, July 13, from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 pm, at A.H. Peters Funeral Home.
