Charles D. Benoit

Born and raised in Detroit, MI to Charles and Irene Benoit, Charles was a former draftsman for Chrysler Corporation. He did additional work upon his retirement for General Motors.

Charles had an active life outside of work. He loved hunting up north at the family cabin in Baldwin, MI with his sons and in-laws. He also loved to golf and you would often find him on the links at least once or twice a week. He was an avid bowler as well. Perhaps his most proud moment was when he bowled a 300 game and received accolades from the league he was a member of. He was always excited to share that great success. In later years, he enjoyed spending time up at his family lakehouse, near Au Gres, MI.

Charles is survived by his wife, Mary Jo of almost 70 years, children Chuck (Mary Pat) Benoit, Jeffrey (Tracey) Benoit, Fred (Susan) Benoit, and Ken Benoit. He was a proud grandpa to Leah, Garret, Max, Sondra, Jackie, Joshua, Jeffrey, Jacob, Adriane, and Nathan; great grandpa to Sydney, Dominic, Jordan, and Presley; and, great-great-grandpa to Hendrix.

He is also survived by his sister Joanne Haag and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister Annette Benoit.

A memorial mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at St. Martin de Porres Church, 31555 Hoover Rd., Warren, MI. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be sent to: The Detroit Covenant House at covenanthousemi.org/donate/#Donate
