Christopher Gregory Barnett, age 64, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026. He was born on December 29, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Alton A. Barnett and Grace M. Barnett (née Langlois).
Christopher was a devoted and loving father to his cherished children, Michael and Claire Barnett, who were the pride and joy of his life. He was a dear and supportive brother to Bernadette Barnett, and a beloved cousin to Anne (Tim), Mike (Sally), Pat (Deena), Denise (Ron) as well as many other cousins. He also leaves behind a wide circle of extended family members and close friends who will deeply miss his kindness, humor, and steady presence.
A 1980 graduate of Cousino High School, Christopher valued education and lifelong learning. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Oakland University, followed by a master’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Indianapolis. His career was marked by dedication and compassion, practicing physical therapy for 22 years at Dwight Orthopedic Physical Therapy Clinic, and later spending six years at Orthopedic Team Rehab. Christopher took great pride in helping others heal, always offering encouragement and genuine care to his patients.
Outside of his profession, Christopher embraced an active and joyful life. He was an avid runner and cyclist, finding peace and purpose on the trails of Dodge Park in Sterling Heights, where he could often be found pushing himself forward with quiet determination. A loyal, lifelong Detroit sports fan, he celebrated the city’s teams through every high and low, embodying the same perseverance he brought to all aspects of his life.
Above all, Christopher will be remembered as a kind and giving soul, someone who instinctively looked for ways to help others and asked for little in return. His gentle spirit, work ethic, and love for his family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing him.
Visitation will be held at D.S. Temrowski and Sons Funeral Home, located at 30009 Hoover Road, Warren, MI 48093, on January 8, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
