Claudette D. Fitzpatrick, age 78, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren. She was born on May 28, 1932 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Claude and the late Delphine (nee: McGee) Gilbert. In keeping with her Irish heritage, it was only right and natural that she would come to fall in love with a good, ol' irish lad named, Donald Fitzpatrick. On August 24, 1957, the two became one in a beautiful wedding ceremony which was held at the Precious Blood Church in Detroit, followed by a lively irish celebration & reception on Russell's Island. They would go on to share 36 wonderful & loving years of marriage together, until Donald's passing in 1993. Yes, Claudette was a true, Irish woman who was extremely devout in her heritage. So much so, she was an avid supporter and marcher in the Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. And being the animal lover that she was, it came as no surprise when she named her precious puppies (a maltese / shih-tzu mix), "Shamus & Shannon." Along with her love for everything Irish, she possessed a wee-bit of the gambling bug that needed some feeding from time-to-time as well. In the larger settings, the challenge in the game of Bingo caught her interests. In the smaller venues, it was the game of poker that she shined the best. Specifically, the game of Texas Hold 'Em. Poker was such an enjoyable pasttime for her, she was proud to be a member of her poker club during her years in St. Petersburg, Florida. She truly enjoyed the fun & friendship she shared around the table with her fellow card sharks. Beloved wife of the late Donald. Loving mother of the late Shawn, (more affectionately known as her little "Irish"). Dear sister of Maureen (Charles) Reynolds. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation for Claudette will be held on Saturday, December 18th from 2:00pm - 6:00pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. Her Funeral Service will take place at 6:00pm on Saturday at the funeral home. Officiating will be Father Roman Pasieczny. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan. Memorial donations are welcomed to the Michigan Humane Society, 30300 Telegraph Road - Suite 220, Bingham Farms, MI 48025. Please share memories of Claudette at her guest book.
