Clifford Lewis Noyes Jr., age 79, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 2, 1945, to Clifford Lewis Noyes Sr. and Wanda (nee Rayniak) Noyes, Cliff was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
His greatest joy came from his marriage to Jacqueline Schmitz, whom he met through a blind date arranged by their mothers. From that moment, it was clear to Jackie that Cliff was the one. They married on October 18, 1969, and shared a love that only deepened over the years. Together, they raised two beautiful daughters, Jennifer and Amy, and took immense pride in watching their four grandchildren grow.
Cliff cherished family time, and he found joy in every moment spent with loved ones. He was particularly fond of his dog, Pepper, and enjoyed every moment spent together. No matter the circumstances, Cliff was always appreciative of being able to spend time with his loved ones because it was them whom he was most proud of.
Cliff proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he developed a strong sense of duty and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life. While serving during the Vietnam War era, Cliff worked as an aircraft jet mechanic. During his training, he earned a perfect score on his qualification rifle exam, earning him an expert marksmanship ribbon. Cliff’s time in the service was something that he was truly proud of, but would never boast about. His time, efforts, and dedication to this country and our United States Air Force does not go unnoticed.
He was happiest when being able to spend time spent up north at their property in Tawas. An avid outdoorsman, Cliff enjoyed fishing on his pontoon boat and target shooting. Being up north on the property was something that Cliff loved to share with everyone because it brought him peace and happiness.
A dedicated member of Hope Lutheran Church, Cliff served as an elder and was deeply committed to his faith. Together, he and Jackie had been attending Hope Lutheran since 2020. They found community and a strong sense of faith being part of a church that spread the word and love of God.
He had a great sense of humor, always ready with a good story or a hearty laugh. His love for old westerns and shows like Walker Texas Ranger, and M*A*S*H provided him endless entertainment. Cliff was also a casual sports fan, often showing his support for the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Lions, and NASCAR.
Cliff will be remembered not only for his love, but for his warmth, generosity, and the joy he brought to those around him. His legacy of kindness and laughter will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-five years, Jacqueline; daughters, Jennifer (Tim) Keyes, and Amy (Leo) Hajduk; grandchildren, Kyleigh, Connor, Katie, and Zach; siblings David Noyes, and Laura (Chris) Sullivan; dog Pepper; and many extended family members and dear friends. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
