Craig Theodore McCabe, age 50, a resident of Warren, died Sunday, November 22, 2009 at St. John Oakland Macomb Hospital in Madison Heights, Michigan. Craig was born July 05, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Theodore McCabe and Arlene (nee: Kosikowsky) McCabe. He leaves to cherish his memory, his bride of 22 years, Janette (nee: Ploszczanski). On a wonderfully fateful day in 1985, the two met having been set up on a blind date. He knew that he had met somebody special, for that turned into a phone call the next day, which lead to a two-year engagement. Then, on October 16, 1987, Craig took Janette (more affectionately known to him as "Princess") to be his loving wife. With an employment path that began in the healthcare industry as a Medical Assistant, Craig's aspirations would soon turn to the field of sales. For the past 20 years, he exuded his unique and charming skills through the retail sales of leather goods, where he worked hard to build a loyal and devoted customer base. And that he did! The repeat business he experienced over the years was a testament to his care and service excellence. He was always "going the extra mile"...and" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...and it showed. Some of the things Craig enjoyed away from work included cooking, golf, and fishing. And fishing was always extra-special when it involved sharing the experience with brother-in-law, Nicholas,...more affectionately known as "Icky-Sticky-Nicky!" Just that nickname alone hints at the fun and wild times the two must have enjoyed down at their favorite fishing hole. Another passion of Craig's was definitely witnessed through his love of animals. He was always the one who would reach out to the strays and outcasts. It was just one of the compassionate traits held by a man with a very tender heart. And that tenderness did much to touch the lives of many, both friends and strangers alike. Craig had an extremely "giving spirit" that knew no boundaries, nor sacrifices he was unwilling to make. Even when he was economically challenged himself, he was gifting to others. With an amazingly unselfish and philanthropic soul, Craig's walk through life was more about thinking of others before himself. Whether it was dropping some cash in the bell ringer's pot at Christmas time, or donating his hair to the Pantene Cancer Foundation, all Craig knew to do was "give." Lastly, Craig was a "dreamer." To all who knew him, they can attest to how SURE he was that, any day now, that Lotto jackpot was going to be his! Another dream he held was, one day, being able to settle down in a small town in Georgia. Though he never got the chance to call Georgia home, he's traded the streets of the south for the "streets of gold"...and he is at peace. Beloved husband of Janette "Princess." Loving son of Ted & Arlene McCabe and Nicholas & Rita Ploszczanski. Dear brother of Mark, Stephanie (Michael) Halloran, Natalie McGoorty, and Terry. Brother-in-law of Nicholas (Connie) Ploszczanski, Gail (David) Guglietti, and Linda (Marty) Jones. And perhaps most precious to him were his nieces and nephews; Bryson, Declan, Rory, Siobhan, Alan, Anthony, and Holly. Craig was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stuart & Mary McCabe and Elias & Stella Kosikowsky. A Memorial Service for Craig will be held on Thursday from 10:30am to 1:00pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. Please share memories of Craig at his guest book.
