Cynthia A. Martines, age 52, died Sunday, February 22, 2009 at her home. She was born in Detroit on January 30, 1957 to parents Roman and Patricia, who preceded her in death. For 31 years, Cindy shared a home and nurtured a loving and devoted relationship with her high school sweetheart, Frank. The two became husband & wife on April 29, 1977 and basked in the glow of an inseparable life of joy together. Even when the going got tough at times, Frank reflects on how faithful, understanding and devout his wife remained through it all. In the hearts of family and friends alike, their marriage truly exemplified the "two becoming one." Cindy cherished her children and grandchildren as well. When it came to her kids, she was always there, always willing, and always involved. To quote her daughter, "it was all about us." Even through her challenges of being bedridden, her granddaughters were always welcomed to jump in bed with grandma to share those precious moments together. She loved everything to do with Mickey Mouse, and enjoyed the many family vacations to Disneyworld. But all would agree,...her greatest passion was definitely Christmas and making the home a showplace for the holidays. No wonder she enjoyed those Frankenmuth trips to Bronner's. Her home was filled with Department 56 treasures, a hobby that became a Martines family tradition and lit the hearts of all she shared them with. Cindy fought a tough battle, but never gave up. Her family's lives were changed by her illness and their responsibilities were many. Yet through it all, they reflect on what an honor it was to care for her and to "give back" to the most emotionally generous person they knew. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and friend that will be remembered always and missed immensely. Along with her beloved husband, Frank, she leaves two children; Shelley (Kelain) Haddad and Frank. Loving grandmother of Kailey and Olivia. Also survived by stepfather, Eugene Kazmierczak, brother Gene Kazmierczak, as well as many other caring family members. Visitation will be Thursday, February 26 from 4-9pm and Friday, February 27 from 2-9pm, with a 7pm Scripture Service, at D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd). Cindy will lie in state Saturday, February 28 from 10:30am until time of Mass at 11am at St. Mark Catholic Church, 4257 Bart Avenue in Warren. Please share memories at Cindy's guest book.
