Daniel "Danny" W. Austin, age 60, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, in Clinton Township, Michigan. He was born on June 30, 1966, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, to the late Walter Austin and the late Nancy (nee Pomaville) Austin.
Danny grew up in Eastpointe and attended East Detroit High School. Later in life, he attended Macomb Community College, where he earned his associate degree. In February of 1991, Danny married the love of his life, Danielle, in Warren, Michigan. Together, they built a life and a home in the Clinton Township area, where they raised their two children, Daniel Jr. and Gabrielle.
Family was everything to Danny. He wanted to be the kind of father who taught his children right from wrong and, most importantly, was always there for them. He was dependable, honest to a fault, generous, and fiercely loyal to the people he loved. When Danny cared about you, you knew it. His happiness was infectious, and when he was having a good time, it was hard for anyone around him not to join in.
Danny loved entertaining and making sure everyone around him was having a good time. He could certainly be loud—especially when he was upset—and he was never one to keep his feelings to himself. He would say his piece, make sure you knew exactly where he stood, and then move on. That was Danny. He was genuine, straightforward, and unapologetically himself.
Danny found a special kind of freedom and joy on the open road. He spent more than 15 years working as a truck driver for Maroc Transportation, a career that suited his independent spirit and love of being behind the wheel.
When Danny wasn’t working, he enjoyed playing euchre and pinochle with his friends, golfing, and working on cars. He had a soft spot for animals and loved his fur-babies dearly. But above everything else, Danny loved his family. They were his greatest pride and the center of his world.
Danny will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Danielle; his devoted children, Daniel (Heather) Austin Jr. and Gabrielle Austin; and his loving grand-fur-babies, Boone, Kevin, Griswold, and Callie.
He was the dear brother of Donald, Douglas (Debie), Debbie Austin, Dawn (David) Hutton, and the late David Austin. He was a beloved uncle to Melissa, Jason, Justin, Joshua, Jamie, Danielle, Austin, Jacob, and Rebekah.
Danny is also survived by his dear aunts and uncle, Carol (the late Gordie) Sampson, Judith (Bill) Sturgis, Rick Pomaville, Mary Pomaville, Olga Pomaville, and was preceded in death by Bob and Tom Pomaville and Jerry (Elaine) Pomaville.
Danny leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories, laughter, and the kind of presence that will never truly be forgotten. His family and friends will forever carry with them the memories of his loyalty, his generosity, his unmistakable personality, and the love he had for those who mattered most to him.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12½ Mile Road), Warren.
