David L. DeSandre passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He lived a life defined by devotion to his family, dedication to his work, and an enduring spirit of adventure.
David was the beloved husband of Patsy, his cherished partner for 67 wonderful years. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He was the devoted father of David Scott (Donna) DeSandre and the late Jeffrey (Heather) DeSandre. He was a proud Pop/Pup to Katie Constantine, Nick (Mallory) DeSandre, and Jack DeSandre, and a loving great-grandfather to Luigi David and Frankie, who brought him immense joy.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, David proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for six years, attaining the rank of Sergeant. The discipline, integrity, and determination he developed during his military service remained hallmarks of his character throughout his life.
Determined to provide for his growing family while pursuing his education, David worked full-time while attending Lawrence Technological University, balancing work, school, and family life with remarkable grace. His perseverance led to a distinguished career in civil engineering and surveying, serving with the Michigan State Highway Department, the Macomb County Road Commission, and the Lapeer County Road Commission.
Following his retirement, David and Patsy fulfilled a dream by moving to Kentucky, where they spent five wonderful years. There, he had the pleasure of working alongside family to develop a shared property and build a home where he and Patsy created treasured memories together.
Retirement, however, could never fully satisfy David's strong work ethic. Returning to Michigan, he joined AEW Engineering as an inspector, where he worked for another 20 years before finally retiring at the remarkable age of 84.
David and Patsy shared a lifelong love of travel and adventure. Their family RV vacations took them across the United States, allowing them to visit every state except Louisiana and Alabama. Among all the places they explored, the Smoky Mountains always held a special place in David's heart. Together they also traveled the world, enjoying cruises, a memorable trip to Italy, and a river journey along the Danube that brought them to beautiful cities including Paris, Budapest, Vienna, and Nuremberg, creating memories they cherished for a lifetime.
Above all, David will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his tireless work ethic, his quiet strength, and the example he set through a life of service, humility, and perseverance. He found his greatest happiness in the people he loved, and his legacy lives on in the family he so proudly nurtured.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Visitation at the Warren location of A.H. Peters Funeral Home on Monday, July 6th, from 11am until time of service at 1pm.
