David Scott Pakulski, “Lunchee,” age 59 of Warren, died Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, Michigan. He was born April 15, 1962 in Detroit, son of Clarence and Rosemarie (nee: Beste) Pakulski.
In this human experiment we know as life, many of us go to work each day,…some with more essential jobs than others, as was the case for David ~ or rather, “Lunchee” as he was more affectionately known by many. For over 38 years, David was a Hi-Lo driver for Lipari Foods and was an integral part of seeing that the trucks were loaded each day for their respective routes. Helping to feed the masses by simply doing his part instilled David with a great deal of pride in what he accomplished. He was a hard worker with an impressive history of a job well done, with immense integrity and dedication to the task at hand. Even when he wasn’t on the job, David’s incredible work ethics shone through in all the little jobs around the house that he tackled. Known as a true “Mr. Fix-It,” he could repair most anything, and shied away from nothing. “If it was meant to be, just leave it to Lunchee!”
David was known for his appreciation of a good meal,…but the question that always seemed to hang in the balance was whether to BBQ or eat out. Both were equally fine with him, it was simply a matter of whether to be pampered or not. David could BBQ with the best of them,…but nothing compared quite like having his meal brought to him, having the dishes done by someone else, then departing the restaurant and heading to one of his favorite vendors for a cool and tasty frozen custard treat. As Andy Griffith would say, “Mmmm, that’s good!”
On the sporting front, David loved him some Detroit Tigers action. Though championships have been a little hard to come by of late, still…David’s devotion for his hometown team ran deep and wide. When it came to Sports in the D, his Tigers truly sported that Old English “D” with class & style. Yet for as fond as he was of the Tigers, little could match the passion he coveted for an afternoon or evening at the casinos. There was just something invigorating about giving Ol’ Lady Luck a run for her money, and David knew the thrill well. Whether he was winning or losing, the rush and palpable environment made for some exciting and provocative entertainment,…and David ate it up in spades!
A loving son and father, David leaves us far too soon, but not without imparting the best of himself in the hearts and souls of his many loved ones and friends. Though his absence leaves a chasm that may seem insurmountable, healing is found in knowing that his sufferings have been swallowed up in love and he rests safely in the arms of God.
David was the loving father of Savannah, Maddison, and Paighton. Beloved son of Clarence and Rosemarie Pakulski. Dear brother of the late Terry Pakulski.
Visitation for David will be held Saturday, June 5th from 3-9 pm, with an evening Funeral Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd.) in Warren, Michigan.
