Dolores Elizabeth Ziemba, age 90 of Warren, died Thursday, February 19, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. Dolores was born August 28, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Bohlen.Raised in Detroit, Dolores grew up in a traditional setting that was immersed with Polish-Catholic roots. She was a devoted daughter and devout Catholic who prayed the Rosary daily. Dolores was a faithful Mass attendee, and held a special devotion to St. Jude and the Venerable Fr. Solanus Casey. Along with her abiding faith, the other paramount passion in life was found in the love of family. She doted on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and cherished each moment spent in their presence. Some of her prized possessions were her great grandchildren's art projects.Always a hardworking person, Dolores and her husband John went on to own and operate two bars in Detroit. Their first bar, Jay Zee's, was located at Davison and Gallagher. Their second bar was the Escapade Lounge in Detroit. Dolores and John loved working at their establishments and enjoyed all the patrons who visited throughout their ownership. Many longstanding friendships were created amidst the responsibilities of running a business, and each of them treasured amidst their uniqueness. As bar owners, John and Dolores distributed much wisdom and had the patience of Job. The bar business is not for the fainthearted, and a requires a steady & stern hand,...both of which Dolores and John commanded with a friendly nature and a warm smile.Retirement followed in 1984 when Dolores and John moved to warm and sunny Spring Hill, Florida. It is there that they would spend the next 18 years until John's death on May 2, 2000. Following his passing, Dolores decided it was time to return home to be closer to her loved ones,...especially those precious and endearing grandchildren. Her time away from work was spent at home tending to her garden,...or" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...or" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...or, perhaps, stealing away to watch General Hospital.
