Don Jeffers Linde

Don J. Linde entered into the loving presence of his Lord and Savior on August 1, 2026, where he was joyfully reunited with his beloved wife, Sandy. He was born on February 25, 1964 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Gerald "Jerry" Linde and Sally (Richard) DeKam.

While attending Michigan State University, Don met the woman who would forever hold his heart, Sandy (née Knuth). Their love story was one of unwavering devotion, friendship, and partnership. They were married on March 5, 1988, and together built a home filled with faith, laughter, music, and unconditional love. Although Sandy preceded him in death on October 9, 2025, the love they shared remained a constant source of strength and comfort in Don's life.

Don's greatest pride was his family. He was a devoted father to Stephen J. (Sara) Linde and Michael W. (Claire) Linde, and an adoring grandfather to Gavin and Nora Linde. He was a loving brother to the late Kathryn Ann Linde, Steven Robert Linde, the late John Eric Linde, Rick DeKam, Rod DeKam, and Kimberly DeKam. Whether sharing stories, celebrating life's milestones, or simply enjoying time together, Don treasured every moment with those he loved. His greatest hope was that his family would always know how deeply they were loved.

Faith was the foundation upon which Don built his life. He carried Christ in his heart, treating others with humility, honesty, compassion, and quiet grace. Even during life's greatest trials, he never lost his optimism or his trust in God's plan. His favorite saying, proudly displayed on one of his favorite shirts, was, "God's Got This." It was more than a phrase; it was the way he lived. Through every challenge, he chose faith over fear, hope over despair, and gratitude over complaint, inspiring everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Music was woven into the fabric of Don's life. From a young age, he dreamed of becoming both a musician and a devoted family man, and he was grateful to fulfill those dreams. He found joy in playing guitar, the harmonica, and sharing music with friends, especially through his exciting collaboration with 3 Mile Smile of Knoxville, Tennessee. Music brought people together, and Don loved being part of that connection.

His passion for the blues led him to serve as president of the Smoky Mountain Blues Society, where he enthusiastically supported musicians, organized regional blues cruises, fostered community involvement, and kept members informed through his thoughtful communications. His leadership reflected his generous spirit and his desire to bring people together through a shared love of music.

Outside of music, Don found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. Hilton Head Island was one of his favorite places, offering peace, beauty, and treasured memories with those he loved most.

Those who knew Don will remember his warm smile, gentle spirit, steady encouragement, and unwavering faith. He had a remarkable ability to make others feel welcome, valued, and cared for. His strength was never measured by the challenges he faced, but by the grace and courage with which he faced them.

Though his earthly journey has ended, Don's legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the music he shared, the faith he exemplified, and the love he poured into his family. His memory will forever remind us to trust in God, cherish one another, embrace life's blessings, and always lead with love.

A memorial service celebrating Don's life will be announced at a later date. The family gratefully appreciates your continued thoughts and prayers during this time of remembrance.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a mental health organization of your choice or to St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Eastpointe, Michigan, honoring Don's compassionate heart and enduring faith.
