Donald Raymond Measel Sr.

Donald lived a full and meaningful life marked by devotion to his family, faith, and work. He especially loved spending time outdoors enjoying boating and fishing on Lake St. Clair and the Great Lakes, as well as hunting throughout Michigan. He treasured vacations to Long Boat Key and Hilton Head Island with his beloved wife, Peggy, and cherished the times when family could join them in Florida at Walt Disney World.

Donald dedicated 35 years of service to Ford Motor Company, working in Dearborn, MI at Ford World Headquarters. His work with Ford afforded him the unique opportunity to travel throughout Europe, evaluating roadways alongside Sir Jackie Stewart, and bringing that knowledge back to Ford’s US research and testing facilities.

After retiring from Ford Motor Company his career included projects with Walsh Construction, most notably at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. During his time there he contributed and completed various testing facilities on base for the Department of Defense.

A man of strong faith, Donald was a lifetime member of the New Apostolic Church, where he generously volunteered his time and expertise toward the church’s expansion and renovation of the congregation’s current location.

Donald was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Peggy Measel; his cherished grandson Collin; his sister Phyllis Neihaus; and his parents.

He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Donald R. Measel Jr. (Trisha), Scott Measel (Michele), and his daughter Robyn (Mike); his devoted grandchildren, Lauren (Brendan), Bradley, Evan, Ashley (Alex), Tyler, Rachel, and Rebecca; his great grandchildren Claire and Nolan (Lauren) and his brother, Gary Measel.

Donald will be remembered for his dedication, generosity, love of family, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he cherished.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 24, at 11:00 am at the New Apostolic Church, 37800 Utica Road, in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
