Age 73, of Warren, Michigan, passed peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father on October 1, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on January 14, 1953, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, to the late Ambrose and Alva (nee Weaver) Carroll.
Donna grew up in Harper Woods, Michigan, alongside her siblings, and was a proud graduate of Grosse Pointe North High School, Class of 1971. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper, but her greatest joy in life was caring for her family and all those fortunate enough to surround her.
Donna had a personality all her own. Her quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, and love of fun brought light and laughter wherever she went. She could often be found wearing funny glasses, sporting a one-of-a-kind outfit, or bringing silly trinkets to a family and friends gathering. No one would ever walk away without one of Donna’s famous goodies bags. She would pack these bags with goodies and fun surprises. She never needed a special occasion to make people smile.
Affectionately known as the “Bread Lady,” Donna found one of her greatest joys in baking her homemade breads and sharing them with everyone. Her generosity knew no bounds. She baked for family and friends, for her doctor’s appointments, for lawn-care workers and plumbers, and even for her daughter’s co-workers for many years. Her zucchini bread, caramel apple bread, and banana bread were among her many crowd favorites.
Donna also loved canning alongside her family. She lovingly prepared applesauce, tomato sauce, jellies, and jams, creating not only delicious food but cherished memories that will live on with those who worked beside her.
She was a fan of The Phantom of the Opera and Hallmark movies, and from July through December, she happily immersed herself in Christmas movies. Her happy place was “up north,” where she loved spending time surrounded by family and friends. She also treasured the many trips and adventures she shared with her girlfriends, affectionately known as “The Girls.” The parties, road trips, laughter, and adventures they shared created memories that Donna held close to her heart.
Above all, Donna loved Jesus and her family. She was especially proud of and devoted to her grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy. Donna was the best Geema, not only to her own grandchildren, but to all children who were fortunate to cross her path. It has often been said, “Everyone deserves an Aunt Donna.” Those who knew her understand exactly why.
Donna was the beloved and cherished mother of Meghan (Jimmy) Noe. She was the adored Geema of Liam, Lily, and the late James Noe.
She was the dear sister of Sharon Hudson, Danny (Kim) Carroll, and the late John Carroll, and sister-in-law of Nancy Carroll. She was the cherished aunt of John Carroll, April (Randy) Hyduk, Aaron (Kelly) Carroll, Stephanie (Tim) Daniels, Walter (Jacky) Hudson, and Bryan (Tammy) Hudson, along with many other great-nieces and great-nephews of whom she was so very proud.
Donna also leaves behind many loving family members, dear friends, her former husband Bruce (Linda) Gage, and especially the Noe and Robinson families, who held a very special place in her heart.
Donna leaves behind a lifetime of laughter, love, faith, homemade bread, Christmas movies, treasured adventures, and countless memories. Her presence made ordinary moments special, and her love made people feel like family. Though she will be deeply missed, the joy she brought to so many lives will continue through the people she loved and the memories she leaves behind.
