Doris Helen Chandler, age 95, died Monday, October 14, 2019 in Plymouth, Michigan. Doris was born October 28, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Raymond Michael Romain and the late Cornelia (nee: Weitzel) Romain.
Doris was a proud and dedicated employee of the Michigan Bell Telecommunications Company, where she retired as a repair clerk. Little did she know this is where she would meet the love of her life, Earl "Bud" Chandler. There was no question as to how much she adored her husband, and how many of those simple enjoyments were spent with him. Some of her favorite entertainment was watching the Detroit Tigers Baseball games or learning to do upholstery with him. They were able to celebrate 72 years together before his passing in July of 2019.
The Chandler family were devout catholic's and long-time members of Assumption Grotto Catholic Church. Raising the children in the catholic faith was important to Doris. Another of Doris' passions was playing pinochole with friends, cooking for her family, being a mom to her children, and spoiling her grandchildren.
One thing that Doris will be known for is her Patriotism. She was a proud American who loved her country and loved to fly the American Flag where ever she may be. If she saw one flying in the wind, she would start to sing or hum the National Anthem. She definitely was a born to be an AMERICAN.
Doris' life was a full one, a life that touched many along the way. The legacy of love she leaved behind is special and treasured, and her family is truly going to miss the wonderful get-togethers they shared making warm and heartfelt memories. She will be immensely misses and eternally remembered.
She was the beloved wife of 72 years to the late Earl. Dear mother of Jan (Charles) Durecki, Leigh (the late Paul) Konwinski, Scott (Susan), Patrick (Robin), Marvin (Judy), and Kathryn (Tim) Grose. Loving grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of 9 with an additional one on the way. Sister of Ruth Trombley, and Phyllis (Dave) Feldman.
