Edsel John Hampton, age 88 of Grosse Pointe Shores, died Monday, February 23, 2015 at his residence. He was born September 6, 1926 in Detroit, son of the late Andrew Scott and the late Nora (nee: Poirer) Hampton.With thanks & praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Edsel for his service to our country as a soldier in our great U.S. Army during World War II. For the sacrifices made and his willingness to stand in harm's way for the sake of freedom, we honor Edsel's service and extend our posthumous gratitude for his valiance, bravery and patriotism.Edsel was the beloved husband of the late Marilyn, and dear father of Kathy "Kate" Hampton, Donna (Keith) Owen, and the late Frank Hampton.
