

Edward John Osak "Ozzie" age 90 a longtime resident of Warren, Michigan died Monday September 8, 2014 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan. Edward was born September 4, 1924 in Detroit Michigan the son of the late John and Lottie (nee: Grzymkowski) Osak. Ed was raised in Hamtramck and attended St. Ladislaus High School, however protecting his country came first before thinking of graduation... Ed was a proud American through and through and left School early to enlist with the United States Army. He served with the 25th Army Infantry Division in the Phililipines. Ed's division set a record of 165 Consecutive day in battle. Ed was wounded during combat and in 1945 received a Purple Heart.Following his service in the World War II Ed returned to his beloved Hamtramck and went to work all the while never receiving his illusive High School Diploma. During his life Ed's daughter Elizabeth knew not having his Diploma bothered him so she enlisted the services of Veteran Service Officer Jim Zavislak to see if he could help her father attain his Diploma. On November 7, 2002 Edward Osak was presented his High School Diploma from former Governor John Engler, this was one of Ed and his family's proudest moments.During his life Ed worked as a manager at various Body Shops in Hamtramck. Ed was affectionately known in the community as "Ozzie". Always quick witted Ed had a joke for all whom he met. He also walked the path Christ laid for him and constantly chose to help those in need. Ed Volunteered at various soup kitchens and worked for Forgotten Harvest delivering food where needed.Later in life Ed met and married his dear wife Dolores in 1981. The two stayed active and Ed being an avid bowler even bowling up until last month, kept up on sports including the Tigers and the Lions, loved to fish, and again help others less fortunate. He met his buddies every Thursday at Krispy Kreme Donuts for the start of his day and many laughs.A faithful servant of Christ, a proud American, a wonderful family man and husband, and a caring selfless volunteer to others... Edward Osak leaves an indelible mark on humanity that cannot be filled.Ed was the beloved husband of Dolores, and is the loving father of Sharon Grider, Susan (Edward) Russ, Edward (Cheri) Osak, Kathy (William) Russ, Richard Osak, Donald Osak, Elizabeth Douglas, and Janeen (Brian) Galac. He is the dear grandfather of 24 and great grandfather of 19. Visitation for Ed will be Thursday from 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road). His Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11am. Interment with Military Honors for Ozzie will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan 48442, at 10:30 am on Monday, September 15, 2014.
