Born in Yugoslavia, Erna built a life centered on family, hard work, and the simple joys that brought her family. She was blessed with a remarkable green thumb and could grow just about anything. Gardening was one of her greatest passions, and she especially enjoyed tending her flowers and plants alongside her husband, Ferdinand, who maintained a beloved vegetable garden. Erna was a devoted animal lover throughout her life. At one time, she and her family operated a small farm where they cared for a variety of animals, including cows, horses, chickens, and many others. Her compassion for animals never faded and remained one of her defining qualities. She loved dogs especially more than anything. Family was at the heart of everything Erna did. She especially cherished the holidays, when she proudly took her place as the family's main cook. Known for her delicious home cooked meals year round. One of the family's most treasured traditions was traveling "up north" every weekend throughout the year to their cabin at Skidway Lake in Rose City. These trips created countless memories; she loved crocheting and sewing and often found creative ways to repurpose and repair items. Sometimes she would even take things apart simply to put them back together better than before. In her later years, Erna earned the affectionate title of the family's "Amazon Queen." She delighted in searching for bargains and ordering great deals online.
Above all, Erna will be remembered for her loving heart, her dedication to family, her generosity, and the countless memories she created for those fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
